Built to help children feel confident with books.

Joey Books started with one simple idea: children should be able to enjoy books independently, even before reading feels easy.

We built Joey by combining classroom insight, parenting experience, and product design to create a read-along app that is safe, useful, and simple for children to use.

What is Joey Books?

A digital library where stories read aloud while children follow every word.

Joey Books brings vetted children's books to life for kids aged 2 to 8. Children can hear each story read aloud, follow the highlighted words, and enjoy books independently while they are still learning to read.

Our guided reading method is book-first: no feeds, no ads, no autoplay, and no unrelated videos. It is designed for calm, purposeful screen time at home, in the classroom, or anywhere a child wants to settle into a story.

Guided reading method

  1. Choose a bookChildren browse vetted published picture books in a closed, ad-free library instead of random web content.
  2. Listen and followWarm narration reads the story aloud while words highlight on screen, keeping support inside the story.
  3. Read with confidenceStories have natural stopping points, so children practise finishing books without feeds, autoplay, or unrelated videos pulling them on.

Our mission

Every child deserves the freedom to read.

Nearly 6 in 10 ten-year-olds in low- and middle-income countries cannot read and understand a simple story. Reading builds confidence and unlocks almost every other form of learning, and Joey Books exists to help more children get every opportunity to learn to read.
